Insight Global is looking for a Director of Quality for our client in the aerospace manufacturing industry. They will be responsible for all aspects of Quality for multiple manufacturing facilities, including systems (Management System) and results (delivered quality measured in ppm and financial impact) through ensuring appropriate and functioning system of checks and balances that facilitate operations. The Director of Quality is the Business Unit (BU) lead for customer interface with Aero and IGT customers, and leads customer interface activities for communication, particularly quality system, technical issues, continual improvement, corrective action, and, when necessary, containment. Position location is flexible but may require more travel if not local to one of the sites for this business unit in the US.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 15-20+ years of experience within quality
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
- Heavy industrial manufacturing background with some sort of aerospace experience
- Strong familiarity with AS9100 OR military aviation or nuclear experience (Sr. NCO (noncommissioned officer) E8E9 lieutenant colonel or colonel O5/O6
- Strong understanding of APQP
- A change agent who can interpret vision statements and help drive new initiatives
- Comfortable with 50% travel (8 sites – mainly US but a couple in Canada and one in Mexico)
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for establishing and leading the deployment of Process Quality Management for the purpose of improving process performance and stability through the effective deployment of process quality management and statistical process control. Supervise PEER Audit Manager and NDT Manager for compliance, performance and Continual Improvement (CI) in operations and non-destructive testing (NDT) processes. Develop team members by coaching and teaching appropriate plant quality managers and mentor select quality engineers. Develop and implement specific quality improvement plans for associated manufacturing plants. Interface with the customer ensuring common understanding of customer quality requirements. Reduction of cost of poor quality (cost structure) through proactive risk mitigation, inspection rationalization and reduction of internal and external failures. Co-lead the Business Unit (BU) Corrective Action Board which addresses all customer and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party major audit findings. Build supportive teams through partnership with various BU segment leaders. Champion deployment of proactive quality tools within the framework APQP/NPI Process. Lead with conviction and bias for continuous improvement and product safety management. Candidate will be required to interface with peers In the QA Organization, BU Lead Team, Plant Managers, plant process/product engineering, Sales and Plant QA personnel. In addition, candidate will be required to meet with customer QA representatives and select customer Leadership. Position requires frequent communication with all business unit locations via multiple media communication on-site. Frequent travel is required. (50 -75%). Candidate will be required to travel extensively to assigned business unit plants and customer locations – domestic and international. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need to remain flexible as schedule changes may occur with multiple priorities simultaneously.
