Position: Fiber Optics Technician
Location: Wilmington, NC
Pay: $52,000 - $72,800/yr (Depending on experience)
Experience:
- 6 + months of experience in commercial structured cabling and knowledge of the industry
- Experience working with Federal contracts, DOD preferred
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am to 3pm
Greene Resources is seeking a Fiber Optics Technician to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
- Perform OSP/ISP fiber installation duties on site, independently and with a team.
- Assist with fusion splicing fiber optic cables.
- Support the implementation of Inside Plant (ISP) copper and fiber optic cabling systems for voice, data, and video on customer premises.
- Follow designated job specifications by reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
- Perform underground cabling installation including termination.
- Review, understand, and execute project proposals, quotations, work orders, personnel requirements, equipment and cabling specifications, material management, tooling, and transportation requirements for assigned project(s).
- Perform site survey(s) as directed by management.
- Provide "as built" documentation to identify all materials, labor, equipment, and tooling used on projects.
- Invoice customer, show proof of satisfactory project completion, and provide or update final "formal" documentation as required by the project specifications.
- Ensure assigned projects are completed on time, within budget, and to industry standards.
- Other duties as necessary or assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, and NEC standards.
- Existing BICSI Technician, Cable and Systems, and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Networking using LAN/WAN, switch gear, and routers.
- Ability to create documentation, reporting, and communication using MS/Google platforms.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations within or out of the state.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and one-line diagrams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multitask.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication with clients, other trades, and management.
