About the Opportunity
The Application Engineer position is responsible for achieving customer and certification requirements. You will work as part of a cross-functional team as well as individually with little supervision. You will translate customer language into engineering requirements and design and execute a product development plan.
The Application Engineer will perform these duties:
- Understand customer needs and translate them into actionable features and functionalities for the application.
- Craft comprehensive documentation detailing customer requirements to guide the product development process effectively.
- Create product options for meeting customer requirements using CAD and in-house software.
- Improve designs to reduce weight and cost while increasing efficiencies.
- Work with the customer and our internal team to iterate, improve, and finalize designs for customer products. Generate final CAD and other documentation.
- Gain expertise in certification standards and execute rigorous test plans in collaboration with third-party providers to ensure product compliance and certification.
- Work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to establish specifications for test specimens and protocols, fostering collaboration and synergy in achieving project objectives.
- Utilize engineering prowess to design innovative prototypes that align with specified requirements, pushing the boundaries of creativity while maintaining functionality.
- Conduct thorough testing at both unit and integration levels to ensure the robustness and compatibility of the application.
- Perform comprehensive functional testing and adeptly troubleshoot and debug test equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Develop precise technical documents that accurately represent test outcomes, providing a clear understanding of results for stakeholders and facilitating informed decision-making.
- Efficiently manage a portfolio of tests, maintaining meticulous records and effectively communicating progress and findings to the wider team.
About your Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Demonstrated track record in the field of application or product engineering, showcasing proficiency and expertise.
- Hands-on experience in designing and constructing mechanical systems, demonstrating a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Ability to proficiently use essential software programs such as MS Office and MS Teams for effective communication, documentation, and collaboration.
- Experience using engineering 3D CAD software for design.
- Aptitude in analyzing data and presenting findings in a clear and compelling manner,
- Capacity to swiftly grasp new systems, technologies, and methodologies.
- Experience documenting project progress with reports, documenting final designs, and creating engineering documentation such as FMEAs, Design Verification Reports, Operating Manuals, etc.
- Sharp analytical and effective time management skills
