Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at NOMADX in Rancho Cordova, CA. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing various components of our product in preparation to take it to market.
Key Responsibilities:
Injection Molding Expertise: Assist with the design and development of components using injection molding techniques. Ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
CAD Design: Utilize advanced CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and systems.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all design and development tasks are completed on time and within budget.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development to conceive, develop, and test product designs.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues, applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to develop innovative solutions.
Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs to validate performance, functionality, and reliability. Make necessary adjustments based on test results.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all design and development activities, including CAD files, technical drawings, test results, and project reports.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on injection molding.
Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Proven track record of successful project management and product development (a portfolio would be helpful to illustrate experience).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment (with many team members being in different time zones).
Experience in prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical components.
Experience with taking a product from concept to market is a huge plus.
Experience in medical device design a plus.
Experience in a regulated industry a plus.
