A prominent manufacturing company in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their team. Benefits include: Direct Hire, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, etc.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing and overseeing projects related to supplier quality improvement, compliance, or risk mitigation.
- Leading initiatives to enhance and maintain high-quality standards within the supply chain.
- Partnering with manufacturing sites and procurement team for APQP and PPAP activities and assessing and qualifying potential suppliers.
- Developing and implementing supplier quality processes and procedures.
- Conducting audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluating supplier performance and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Investigating and addressing non-conformance issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
- Monitoring and analyzing supplier quality metrics to drive improvement initiatives.
- Conducting risk assessments for new and existing suppliers.
- Providing technical guidance to suppliers on quality requirements and specifications.
- Participating in the development and review of supplier contracts and agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 6+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, ERP systems, and other industry software.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control procedures.
- Experience in conducting supplier audits and assessments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100 or IATF 16949)
- Knowledge of Six Sigma/LEAN tools (pFMEA, Control Plans, 8D, 5why, A3, Kaizen etc.)
