Position: Senior IT Engineer Position
Are you a dynamic and forward-thinking IT professional? We're looking for a hands-on Senior IT Engineer to lead our modern transformation efforts. This role will be part of the IT team responsible for all Windows infrastructure and storage.
Role Overview:
As a Senior IT Engineer, you will monitor the efficiency and performance of our systems. You'll oversee technology infrastructure and operations, ensuring everything adheres to policies and regulations. Your role includes analyzing computer system schematics and specifications, maintaining network security, and preventing unauthorized access.
We are moving from an on-premises infrastructure to a modern, cloud-based architecture. Security, high availability, and quality of service are crucial. You will play a key role in maintaining application reliability, uptime, and data services while assessing costs and service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
System Monitoring & Optimization:
- Monitor resource utilization and performance.
- Implement procedures for network optimization, reliability, and availability.
- Research and recommend new hardware and software solutions.
- Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions.
Infrastructure Management:
- Design, build, configure, implement, and support systems such as Cisco UCS, VMware, EMC PowerMax SAN Storage, Linux, and Windows Server.
- Manage Cloud-based services (Azure, Office 365) and Windows Server 2012+ systems.
- Oversee internet-facing infrastructure and applications including nginx, IIS, DNS, SMTP, and Citrix NetScaler.
Corporate Infrastructure & Applications:
- Manage Windows AD/DNS, VMware View, Exchange, file/print services, and remote offices.
- Script solutions for efficiency and proactively improve corporate infrastructure.
- Develop and follow system standards, policies, and procedures.
Support & Training:
- Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis.
- Share knowledge and train peers.
- Build long-term relationships with vendors for IT-related products and services.
Documentation & Budgeting:
- Contribute to annual budget development and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Create and maintain run books and other documentation.
- Prepare and deliver service level enhancement recommendations.
Required Skills:
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of engineering and design experience in creating reliable, scalable systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, VMware) are a plus.
Technical Knowledge:
- Expertise in Cisco Unified Computing, VMware ESX/ESXi, DNS, TCP/IP, and more.
- Experience in Active Directory management and complex environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Office 365.
- Strong PowerShell/scripting skills.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps, EMC storage, and security controls.
- Proficiency in systems auditing and compliance with industry standards (ITIL, ISO, COBIT).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Electrical Engineering is highly desired.
