The Artificial Perception Threat Awareness (APTA) division at SARA is making the future of Aerospace and Autonomy happen now, with a charter to create new and emerging sensor perception technologies for Commercial & Military markets. Our innovative technologies include RF, optical and acoustic sensors enabled with innovative embedded algorithms, machine learning and robust networking.
SARA is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and experienced Backend Development Engineer to support activities out of our Cypress, CA location. We are looking for a software engineer who be responsible for transitioning safety-critical sensor processing to a cloud-based environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design, Implement, Test, and Maintain backend software applications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical field
- 5+ years’ experience creating distributed software applications
- Ability to use C/C++, Python, and GIT
- Ability to create software designs, test software, and document results
- Ability to create and implement cloud native architectures in AWS and/or Azure
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- US Citizenship required
- May require light physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 10 pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- 10+ years’ experience creating distributed software applications
- Experience with IoT development and ISO 30141
- Experience creating applications certified to RTCA DO-178C and RTCA DO-254
- Ability to program in Matlab, LabVIEW, Julia, and VHDL
- Active DoD security clearance

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
