Position Summary:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for participating in the design of new automated and robotic systems and subsequently provide continuing support and improvement for existing systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Design and document control systems for various types of custom automated equipment
- Under the general direction of the Lead Automation Engineer, conduct the electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, robotic learning and programming, peripheral device programming, and machine PLC programming
- Produce and maintain design drawings via CAD, CREO
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvements of processes and methods as well as reduce manufacturing cycle times while maintaining high quality standards.
- Coordinate machine debug, power-up, and machine validation, and improvement.
- Participate in the development of test protocols for all aspects of mechanical components, equipment and machinery
- Assist with engineering calculations for stress, strain, force, torque, tolerancing power, thermal, and fluid flow problems creating appropriate models to be analyzed
- Provide ongoing support to Manufacturing
- Drive continuous efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day activities
- Support the organization with sharing and implementing best practices across all locations
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and/or Mechatronics Engineering, or relevant experience in lieu thereof
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Automation role; hydraulics industry experience preferred
- Experience in designing mechanical assemblies and programming systems in Robotics, Automated Systems, Vision Systems and Machine Controls
- Ability to problem solve effectively
- Accurate and detail oriented, with the ability to follow through on tasks and objectives
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team
- Strong written and oral English communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels throughout the organization
- Strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Lift and move a minimum of 15pounds without assistance
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment can be soft to extremely loud
Travel Requirements:
Infrequent overnight and international travel may be required
