Description:
First City Recovery Center is in need of a reliable LPN/RN to care for individuals suffering from alcohol abuse and/or substance abuse and mental health in a professional and considerate manner.
The Nurse is responsible for delivering client-centered care. You will work under the supervision of the Medical Director, Charge Nurse, and Program Director. Therefore, LPN/RN professionals must be flexible, team players, qualified, compassionate, and efficient. The LPN/RN works with a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) who will assist the LPN/RN with client care.
The ideal candidate must have experience providing diverse primary care to those who need it while remaining confident and calm.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
Completes the following documentation within 24 hours of the patient's admission to the program:
1. Admission Note
2. Nursing Assessment
3. Pre-Screen Testing
4. HRS Consent Form
5. Patient Health Examination
6. Criteria for Admission Form (if Detox admit).
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse is responsible for, however not limited to:
- Ensures patient confidentiality in compliance with 42CFR, Part
- Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, giving patients direct attention, and maintaining rational detachment
- Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
- Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team member.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency, change in medical status regarding response to medications, and related challenges
- Assisting/Reporting to medical providers;
- Conducting required testing; lab draws;
- Administers medications as ordered/prescribed by the medical provider
- Follows all medical provider orders
- Monitors behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, and physical symptoms related to dosage, as well as other symptoms related to drug use (both licit and illicit) and mental health concerns
- Obtains vital signs (CIWA/COWS assessments), blood specimens, and urine samples
- Processes point of care urine drug screens per company policy
- Prepares take-home medication
- Monitors medication administration closely to prevent diversion.
- Communicate with Clinical staff on client progress
- Maintains accurate client records
- Document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents
- Orders necessary medications
- Maintains accurate medication inventory records
- Adheres to all federal, state, local, and accrediting body regulations
- Maintaining medication inventory and audit records and providing support to the overall operations of the clinic.
- TB test Administrations and Readings Certified
Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state maintains current licensure per state requirements.
- Maintains current CPR.
- Detoxification experience preferred.
- Current (five-years) of no felonies or substance abuse convictions.
- Required to have a current TB immunization and/or verification incumbent is a rector.
EDUCATION:
A minimum of a Graduated from a community college with a Practical Nursing Degree or RN degree.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 1 years experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in a detox unit and/or inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting preferred.
