Summary:
The Election Worker will be an important part of the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters Office. We are looking for enthusiastic, detail-oriented candidate to join the staff to assist with candidate services, official ballots, voter information materials, proofreading, precinct operations, poll working, voter registration, vote-by-mail, ballot counting and and/or voting systems support.
Work Site Location: Downtown Stockton, CA.
This will be a 3 plus month contract to help prepare for the upcoming election this June. Looking to hire multiple candidates ASAP. Open to flexible hours.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with candidate filings, including processing of candidate documents; accepts and proofreads candidate statements of qualifications; verifies residence and political affiliation; accepts filing fees
- Responds to questions and inquiries from candidates, representatives of candidates, office holders, voters and the general public about campaign requirements, voting regulations, and general information about elections
- Prepares a variety of correspondence, forms, legal documents, audits, reports, and other written communication; reconciles accounts; prepares and posts deposits; processes and tracks invoices and payments
- Verifies, codes and enters information into the data entry system; assists in maintaining master file of registered voters, street index and/or other elections files
- Processes voter registration documents, absentee voter applications and ballots, and other election-related documents; verifies signatures on candidate nomination petitions; maintains and updates voter registration files; ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements
- Operates a variety of office machines, including voter machines and computers
- Computes and collects fees; issues receipts; sells maps and voter indices
- May supervise deployment/collection centers for elections; issues receipts for ballots and supplies; recruits and trains staff and election officers on policies and procedures and state and federal regulations; recruits polling places and evaluates sites for accessibility in compliance with state and federal guidelines; participates in and/or coordinates community outreach and voter registration activities as assigned
Qualifications:
- No direct Election worker experience needed, but Nice to Have.
- General clerical and/or office work experience is ideal
- Must have basic computer skills
- Customer service skills needed
