A leading innovator in space technology is looking for a talented Staff Software Engineer, iOS, to join their mission-driven team. This company is building the future of human space habitation with artificial gravity space stations designed for long-term stays in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Their groundbreaking space station, set to launch in 2025, aims to redefine the possibilities of life in space.
The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, iOS, you'll lead the development of iOS applications for crew interfaces aboard the company’s space station. You'll take charge of the entire Software Development Lifecycle, collaborating with UX design, flight software, and avionics teams to ensure reliable performance in space. This is your chance to create software that will operate in orbit.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and optimise iOS software codebases that will be deployed on crew devices aboard the company’s spacecraft.
- Mentor junior engineers, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- Own the full software lifecycle, from initial development to deployment, configuration management, and end-user support.
- Configure and enhance automated testing and deployment systems to ensure the highest software quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets mission-critical requirements and user needs.
What You’ll Need:
Technical Skills:
- Proven track record of developing iOS applications used by millions.
- Proficiency with the command line, shell scripting, and a deep understanding of the GNU/Linux operating system.
- Experience integrating C and C++ code into iOS applications.
- Familiarity with cloud-based application development.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for user-facing roles and solving complex problems with a bias for action.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development environments.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during critical mission operations.
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Centered Design & Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 7+ years of software development experience with 4+ years focused on iOS applications using Objective-C/C++ & Swift.
