Engineering Program Manager (EPM) for a Hardware Test Engineering Team with a Global Consumer Device Company in Cupertino, CA
Summary:
The Hardware Test Engineering team is responsible for developing technologies, calibration methodologies and the respective instrumentation for the calibration and validation of a popular consumer electronics company’s products in Cupertino. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with Electrical engineering experience to lead a hardware test engineer team and design boards and devices. The ideal person is a strong PM who will be responsible for leading the projects – organize meetings, provide updates to stakeholders, escalate project issues and collaborate with vendors. You will be driving the team from an organizational perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage program feature baseline, scheduling, critical path, and technology risks areas for execution
- Support project definition and drive closure of architecture and technical opens
- Grasp complex technical matters or abstract issues and present them in an actionable form
- Identify and highlight risk areas and mitigation strategies, ensuring the right people are involved. Resolve roadblocks for the team
- Cross-functionally communicate at a senior level key developments and updates on new instruments/fixtures
- Manufacturing Testing and Diagnostics
- Ability to handle both the project management (60%) and technical/lab aspects of the role (40%)
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry experience taking products (preferably portable consumer electronics devices) from concept design and architecture definition through execution, including engineering development, validation, ramping, and shipping
- 5+ years of project management experience
- Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty
- Well-versed in setting up project schedules and work breakdown structures
- Strong technical background
- Experience with Microcontrollers, PCB, Board bring-up, FPGA
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Leadership skills, energy, willingness to learn, and ability to inspire team members
- Strong project planning and execution skills, with the expectation that the new EPM can independently plan and execute the DCS projects after going through one cycle
- Consistency and attention to detail in managing day-to-day responsibilities, such as meeting planning, agendas, action items, and follow-ups
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the technical resources and translate issues/requirements
- BS EE/ME/CE degree or related experience required; MS desired
Desired Requirements:
- Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities, capable of identifying risk early in the project
- Experience with Electronic Design is a plus
Location: Cupertino, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-36+ months
Salary: $75hr-$85/hr (DOE)
