Job Summary: The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates for commercial ground-up projects ranging from $5-20 million. The ideal Construction Estimator will have a strong background in estimating, with additional experience in interiors and commercial / multifamily projects considered highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities of Construction Estimator:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial ground-up projects, including labor, materials, and time requirements.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid proposals.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather and verify project information.
- Conduct site visits to gather information on labor, materials, and other factors influencing costs.
- Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and negotiate contract terms.
- Track and analyze project costs to ensure estimates align with actual expenditures.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of estimating databases and software tools.
Qualifications of Construction Estimator:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, particularly with commercial / multi-familyground-up projects ranging from $5 - $20 million.
- Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
