Job Summary
The Salesforce Release Manager will oversee the release management lifecycle for Salesforce projects, ensuring that changes are deployed smoothly and efficiently across the Salesforce environment. This includes coordinating and managing releases, collaborating with development teams, and ensuring that all Salesforce updates align with business objectives. The Salesforce Release Manager will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Salesforce environment, optimizing the release process, and minimizing disruption to users.
Job Responsibilities
Release Planning and Coordination:
- Plan, schedule, and manage Salesforce release activities across various environments, including development, testing, and production.
- Collaborate with Salesforce developers, administrators, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and successful releases.
- Maintain and manage the Salesforce release calendar.
Release Execution:
- Execute Salesforce releases, including metadata and data migrations, code deployments, and configuration changes.
- Coordinate with QA teams to ensure thorough testing and validation of Salesforce changes.
- Monitor and troubleshoot release-related issues, ensuring quick resolution.
Change Management:
- Manage change requests and ensure that all changes are properly documented and approved before deployment.
- Implement change control processes to ensure the stability and integrity of the Salesforce environment.
Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Salesforce release-related communication.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the status of Salesforce releases.
- Ensure that all release-related documentation is up to date and accessible.
Risk Management:
- Identify, analyze, and manage risks associated with Salesforce releases.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans to address potential issues.
- Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensure that lessons learned are documented and applied.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously improve the Salesforce release management process to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement best practices for Salesforce release management, including automation and CI/CD for Salesforce.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in Salesforce release management tools and techniques.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure that all Salesforce releases comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all Salesforce release activities.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Salesforce release management, Salesforce administration, or a related role.
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Administrator, Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Salesforce Platform App Builder) are highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, including Salesforce objects, workflows, validation rules, and Apex code.
- Experience with Salesforce deployment tools (e.g., Gearset (preferred)Salesforce DX, Change Sets, ANT Migration Tool, Copado).
- Experience setting up development orgs and data seeding.
- Experience with Branching Strategy tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Github)
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple releases simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools for Salesforce.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ITIL or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.
Working Conditions
- This role operates primarily remote, but there are in office meetings occasionally.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours to accommodate release schedules.
