Digital Accessibility Engineer
Location: FTL office/Hybrid (Onsite Tuesday through Thursday at 1600 SE 17th st., FTL, 33316) Florida
Length: C2H (at least 6 months).
Oversee from design through deployment adoption of ADA best practices, testing, validating as well as reinforcing at each step adherence to compliance requirements and standards.
Identify and educate team on latest requirements, software efficiencies and best practices while developing a roadmap, including performance metrics for maturity evolution.
Evaluates digital accessibility for web products and documents for compliance with current WCAG standards. Ensures that ADA processes and procedures are tested properly in application development and deployment.
Collaborates with user experience designers, content creators and developers to design and implement accessible user interfaces for websites, mobile apps and other electronic documents. Performs web and mobile code review to ensure WCAG compliance. Identifies and documents accessibility issues and provides recommendations for remediation and implement accessibility best practices. Triages the external audit findings to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Provides guidance to 50+ onsite/offshore web product owners, designers, developers, vendors to ensure applications are developed in compliance with WCAG standards.
Conducts manual testing of responsive web pages and digital marketing assets to ensure technical standards meet current WCAG Level AA compliance standards as well as other requirements; this includes testing of multimedia and PDFs. Analyzes web code and native apps to identify accessibility issues and remediate. Provides end to end audit and technical guidance on implementing accessibility requirements based on the product categories. Strategizes testing methodologies and work with Product teams to prioritize Accessibility issues and defects.
Contributes to centralized accessibility technical documentation and guidelines. Determines appropriate tools, information, resources, and training needed to resolve application accessibility barriers.
Provides training on Accessibility topics to others (web developers, QA testers, business partners, product teams, etc.), sharing best practices for design and development. Promotes accessibility within the organization, advocate for accessibility as a vital part of the customer experience

1. Oversee from design through deployment adoption of ADA best practices, testing, validating as well as reinforcing at each step adherence to compliance requirements and standards.
2. Identify and educate team on latest requirements, software efficiencies and best practices while developing a roadmap, including performance metrics for maturity evolution.
3. Ensures that ADA processes and procedures are tested properly in application development and deployment.
4. Collaborates with other teams including Brand legal team, marketing, compliance, and development.
5. Serves as liaison between Global Security Team and Web Application Development team; coordinate all security related activities such as regular Pen-Test, static code scan, dynamic scan, security audit, etc.
6. Provides guidance to 50+ onsite/offshore web product owners, designers, developers, vendors to ensure applications are developed in compliance with WCAG standards.
Identify preferred disciplines or major(s) to consider
Bachelor’s degree in IT Engineering/Software or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Years and area of professional experience
Minimum Experience (if preferred but not required, list as such):
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ADA programming and manual testing, with a demonstrated track record of working on complex, high profile projects and maturing the organization’s ADA digital practices.
Proven experience in a senior or specialist role.
Experience leading junior resources

Minimum Qualifications (if preferred but not required, list as such):
IAAP WAS certification required.
IAAP CPAAC preferred, not required.
Familiarity with the current and anticipated legal requirements of the ADA and the US DOJ.
High level understanding of IT security is a plus.
Expert skill level using assistive technologies: JAWS, NVDA, Voice Over and Talkback
Ability to analyze code of HTML, CSS and ARIA technologies, knowledgeable with JavaScript and product Accessibility APIs
Up-to-date and thorough knowledge of Accessibility standards including Section 508, Section 508 Refresh, WCAG 2-2.2 Level A, AA, and PDF standards
Remains abreast of latest ADA technologies and best practices and identified opportunities to mature in-house maturity.
Hands-on experience implementing accessibility compliance standards in technical as well as advisory procedures
Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience applying solutions to legal and business compliance issues related to digital products accessibility standards
Extensive knowledge of web communication accessibility barriers is essential
Ability to communicate to a wide range of project stakeholders (e.g. Executives, Managers, Designers, Developers, Testers)
Proficient in understanding the cause and impact for accessible experience in terms of design and development specifications on web products
