Job Description
M. Gale & Associates, LLC is seeking a full-time Senior Consultant with significant campaign experience to join their team in an exciting time of strategic organizational growth.
The role is a pivotal position leading and in driving transformational campaigns, sharing collective responsibility with the Leadership Team to deliver exceptional work to clients while meeting or exceeding the organization’s strategic initiatives, goals, functions, and processes. Quality and integrity stand at the top of our client interactions and deliverables, as well as with our team of employees and associates.
The Senior Consultant will deliver specialized campaign leadership and fundraising consulting services to clients. As part of the Client Engagements team, the position will lead and collaborate with employed consultants and contracted associates, communicating directly with clients and their donors. The position will help leverage the talents, skills, and knowledge of our clients’ team of volunteers and staff to maximize philanthropic transformational and major gifts deliverables and uphold the M. Gale formula to fundraising success – within predetermined time and budget parameters for each client.
This candidate will have direct donor relationship and fundraising experience, a talent for building relationships both external and internal to the organization, and a proven record of accomplishment in raising funds in the community. They will have experience working with nonprofit executives, boards, and donors.
Role and Responsibilities
Campaign Services – Consulting & Major Gifts
- Responsible for managing campaign-related activities working with clients, including staff and volunteer support for strategic major gift research, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects.
- Plan and help implement timely execution of donor campaign prospect action plans solicitation strategies, briefings, gift proposals and solicitation follow up.
- Build a dedicated team approach to effectively support campaign goals and manage a wide range of constituents and complex relationships.
- Successfully demonstrate excellent workflow organization, project, and time management, with ability to plan, think strategically, and manage multiple projects and deadlines while remaining calm and level-headed under pressure.
- Leverage expertise and experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Facilitate and participate in donor research, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation activities.
- Exhibit strong relationship-based fundraising and interpersonal skills, with ability to multi-task.
- Work independently and collaboratively to inspire a solicitation team.
- Exemplify strong writing skills and maintain quality under pressure of deadline and with a high level of professionalism.
- Manage the delivery of major gift work products for client materials from concept to planning goals and objectives to gift documentation, recognition, and stewardship.
- This position requires that the candidate demonstrate a belief in philanthropy and a commitment to the community.
Administration
The Senior Consultant is a member of M. Gale operations team and as such will be responsible for playing a pro-active role including:
- Serve as a lead consultant with assigned campaign clients.
- Serve as a mentor and support consultant teams in all areas of operations with a specialty focus on transformational and major gift fundraising.
- Attend client, business/team development and strategic planning meetings.
- Participate in the client engagement process to include project discovery or offsite meetings with potential clients to access the scope of work for a particular proposed project or capability for market-driven transformational gift opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned or negotiated by Leadership.
Strategy and Planning
- Work individually and cooperatively to achieve revenue targets across a range of activities for any client or project.
- Participate in the organization as it strives to achieve new strategic initiatives.
- As a member of the M. Gale Operations team, help ensure consistent client delivery, and the production of materials and team resources.
Development Practices
- Understanding of relationship-based fundraising practices, experience in campaign fundraising process.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the fund development process including blended gifts and planned giving options.
- Strong written and verbal skills, ability to create and deliver written and oral presentations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
- Experience: at least 15 or more years professional fundraising experience with a record of accomplishment of major gifts focused on campaigning for nonprofit organization(s).
- Well-developed social skills and the ability to forge strong professional relationships.
- A person with a compelling presence who empowers others to take responsibility and set ambitious goals for themselves.

- Comfortable in all types of social settings and able to interact with a wide range of constituencies.
- Knowledge of computer operations and software products including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
- Must demonstrate strong writing skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend work; travel as required to ensure client satisfaction and deliverables.
Preferred Skills
- 15+ years’ experience in executive management and fundraising
- Evidence of continued professional career development
- Experience with donor database software and/or sales software is helpful
- Certifications - Certified Fundraising Executive, (CFRE), preferred
- Member of professional organizations relevant to career advancement, i.e., Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
