Overview The CT tech is expected to work as a team with ACFR Paramedics and Nursing to efficiently and safely care for suspected or confirmed stroke patients in a pre-hospital setting within their scope of practice. This includes traveling on the MSTU ambulance and responding to pre-hospital dispatch alerts. The CT Tech must be able to function autonomously utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director. The CT tech must be effective with communication, clinical skills, and able to work positively in a high stress environment with patients, peers, families and other internal / external personnel. The CT tech must also possess excellent interpersonal skills as s/he is instrumental in providing community outreach and education. The CT tech is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of UF Health Shands, assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. The CT tech shall be a proficient team member on the MSTU and within the MSTU program.
In addition to providing diagnostic CT images on the MSTU, other assigned duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Registration of patient
- IV placement and/or blood draw for POC testing
- MSTU preparation for scan (i.e. leveling of truck)
- Uploading and transmission of images to Visage
- Utilizing Telemedicine system
- Creating CD of images for patients transferring outside UF Health
- Any other duties that can create efficiencies within the workflow
- Utilize downtime as productively as possible
- Participate in MSTU simulations and educational activities to promote teamwork and efficiency
- Community outreach and education efforts to promote the MSTU program
- Work cohesively with team to streamline and/or create efficiencies on the MSTU that improve stroke metrics and patient care
- Stroke data entry
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of Radiologic Technology training in a CAHEA approved school and meets requirements for the registry by the ARRT. Prefer at least one years of experience as a radiologic technologist.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Must be registered by the ARRT. Must hold a current license from the State of Florida as a certified Radiologic Technologist. Must pass the ARRT advanced examination for CT certification within one year of employment as a CT Technologist. Must have current BLS certification.
