Duties:
1. Knowledge of Cybersecurity Principles: Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts, threats, and vulnerabilities, including network security, application security, encryption, access control, and risk management.
2. Operating Systems: Proficiency in various operating systems, such as Windows (Server 2019, 2022 Windows 10, and Windows 11), and Linux (RHEL) and their associated security features.
3. VMware Virtualization Technologies: In-depth knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, including VMware Cloud Foundations, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite.
4. Hypervisor Hardening: Ability to apply security best practices to harden VMware hypervisors and host systems.
Qualifications:
You must have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Presents trainings on new software applications; 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolves software applications issues.
AND
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing the cybersecurity compliance and reporting for enterprise baseline systems utilizing WMW are and Operating System Experience; 2) Managing cybersecurity related projects and efforts to ensure systems are designed, engineered, and implemented to maintain an acceptable level of risk as detailed in system authorizations; 3) Providing technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical cybersecurity issues that significantly influence important command IT policies or programs; 4) Performing system cybersecurity risk assessments and testing in accordance with testing guidance and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process guides; and 5) Conducting assessment and authorization (A&A) activities, tracking Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance, and performing security assessments sufficiently in-depth to evaluate complex systems involving interdependencies, virtualized environments, and multiple instances. - This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position for specialty area 72 (Information System Security Management) at the intermediate level. Updates may occur to align with the DOD Manual 8140.03
- Occasional travel may be expected for this position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution or the ability to obtain one of the following certifications within 9 months of employment: CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Security+, GIAC GICSP, GIAC GSEC, or (ISC)2 SSCP is preferred but not required.
