Samson Rose has been exclusively engaged by one of our stealth startup clients to help them hire a Senior Robotics Engineer to support multi-platform automated systems control – incorporating novel design and analysis into a proprietary robotic control and learning platform.
The person we seek will be responsible for building portions of our generalizable learning platform using our novel robotic control and sensing infrastructure. You will manage the development of data collection tools, data transformation systems, data distribution protocols, simulated learning environments, and state management tools for operators controlling fleets of heterogeneous robotics systems. You should be comfortable building systems with instrumentation for demonstration recording, transfer learning, and behavior authoring generally. Firsthand experience with Sim2real transfer and/or On-Policy (SARSA) RL in robotic control and learning is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, design, and implement autonomy architectures with the machine learning team.
- Incorporate state-of-the-art reinforcement learning practices/methods from model-based and model-free frameworks.
- Experience with ML pipelines and deep learning architectures, including CNNs, Transformers, Multi-Head Attention Networks, and RNNs.
- Desire to be a trailblazer with applied Reinforcement Learning to generalizable robotic controllers.
- Decompose abstract high-level engineering concepts, problems, and scenarios into mathematical representations for training AI models.
- Perform statistical analysis, hyperparameter tuning, and test results analysis.
- Deploy models/agents in the field.
- Creating & implementing parallel CPU/GPU/TPU training configurations.
- Keep abreast of developments in the ML field.
- Documenting work and code.
- Conducting code reviews and implementing agile SW development practices.
- Assist in building the Machine Learning team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in machine or reinforcement learning through products built.
- Demonstrable experience with commercial machine learning tools & frameworks, e.g. TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Ray (RLlib), etc.
- Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics, and algorithms.
- Agile SW development practices.
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
- The ability to work well with other team members, lead projects to completion, and work independently.
- Interest in working in a fast-paced development environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness and desire to work on applications in and for the US Department of Defense.
- Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearances.
