JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for managing the daily operations of Seed Enhancement activities, ensuring efficiency of facility personnel and equipment while maintaining full compliance with regulatory & safety guidelines. Responsibilities include any processes related to preparing seed for delivery to the customer (receiving, drying, cleaning, sizing, inventory, treating, packaging, and sampling activities). This position will be expected to keep the work area, warehouse, and the facility clean and organized. Participation in the maintenance of assigned equipment is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:
- Directly supervise employees in: Seed Enhancement. (ADP, Schedules, Temporary workers)
- Efficientlyrun and clean required seed conditioning, seed enhancement and packaging equipment in the Logistics Department.
- Responsible for ensuring clean ups between varieties are checked and signed off on, to ensure no cross contamination will occur.
- Ordering and inventory of supplies, inventory should be done on a regular basis to determine when ordering is necessary.
- Preparation of a monthly report due the 1st of each month and sent to both the Assistant Operations Manager and the Senior Operations Manager.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment in the Logistics Department.
- Meet or exceed established target throughput for assigned area(s) while
maintaining our quality requirements.
- Develop, adapt and scale-up research seed priming and other quality enhancement techniques to commercial levels.
- Ask Assistant Ops Manager to adjust the schedule to accommodate workload- Be proactive in meeting the scheduled deadlines.
- Support other Logistics workstations or company departments during slow times as assigned or approved by the Assistant Ops Manager. Additional responsibilities may be required while working in other departments.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly workstation. Proactively assist other areas in the department to maintain cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
- Comply with SAI, State and Federal Safety requirements and promote company programs that can minimize injuries, lost time, product loss and damage.
- The Assistant Ops Manager may assign additional tasks as needed.
- Follow all SAI quality assurance, policies and procedures as follows but not limited to this list:
* Be aware of and personally follow all SAI policies and procedures.
* Raise issues with Assistant Ops Manager when policies or procedures are not clear or not working.
* Keep Assistant Ops Manager informed of critical tasks not done.
* Keep Assistant Ops Manager informed of issues developing.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must have excellent visual, mathematical, and judgmental skill.

- Must be able to communicate effectively with vendors and affiliates regarding seed enhancement needs and projects
- Must have ability to learn the technical aspects of seed enhancement processes and have the desire and ability to obtain Qualified Applicators License.
- Must have ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery and equipment.
- Ability to handle stress especially when encountering necessary projects, deadlines and/or high workload.
- Must have ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- High school or college science courses desirable
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
- Minimum two year's experience in the seed industry preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work with chemicals, pesticides, and other irritating substances
- Must be able to work wear personal protective equipment when necessary and/or required
- Must be able to work in dusty, hot and/or cold conditions on a regular basis
- Must be able to work overtime during busy times of year, including alternating weekend and holiday duties with other Seed Enhancement personnel
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Salary: $69,000- $84,000 per year
