As the Lead Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of product development, ensuring excellence from initial design to customer acceptance. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality control and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with leadership, operations, manufacturing, and sales to ensure a cohesive and efficient workflow.
Essential functions
- Continuously update and improve drafting standards, including selection of technology and implementation.
- Advance quality control strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality precast concrete products and services.
- Review of all drawings for project standards and production clarity.
- Regularly review stock product catalog for relevancy and design efficiency.
- Manage outsourced engineering vendors.
- Take ownership of industry certification, present new certification opportunities to assist in business growth.
- Oversee compliance with certifying agencies, i.e. NYS DOT, NPCA
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Developing and delivering product presentations to the engineering community.
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory responsibilities:
- Hire, train, manage and lead engineering team members.
- Provide regular constructive feedback to ensure development of team members to their highest potential.
Travel required: Occasional travel to clients, project work sites, and industry events.
Required education and experience:
- B.S degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or other relevant engineering degree.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in a design, construction, and/or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working on large projects, including interaction with municipal, state, and private ownership clients.
- Experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create Engineered Shop Drawings.
- Strong continuous improvement mindset and experience developing CI practices.
Preferred education and experience:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
