Penmac Staffing is now recruiting a Computer Systems Administrator for a manufacturer and distributor of retail consumer products in Spartanburg, SC.
The Computer Systems Administrator will manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our computer systems and networks.
We are seeking a Computer Systems Administrator who is customer-focused and excels in building strong relationships. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint, along with a keen attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, as is the ability to manage time efficiently and stay organized. The role requires a self-starter who can handle stress, prioritize safety, and work well within cross-functional teams. Additionally, all staff are expected to maintain high ethical standards and personal credibility.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 2-4 years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role. Proven expertise in Active Directory and proficiency in MS Windows Server, Basic Scripting/PowerShell, Virtual Server Management, and Backup and Recovery are essential. Additionally, a working knowledge of various communication protocols is required.
This is a direct hire, full-time hybrid position, with the option to work up to two days per week remotely. Candidates must be able to commute to the worksite in Spartanburg, SC. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. preferred. (8:00 am-5:00 pm alternate acceptable) Must have flexibility to take calls/Teams meetings with clients and team members as needed outside of standard work hours.
The starting salary for this positions ranges from $80,000-85,000 per year, depending on experience.
Key responsibilities of the Computer Systems Administrator include:
- Monitor active network, servers and desktops including multiple data center environments using management tools. Respond to hardware and software issues as they arise.
- Manage data center virtualization technologies and practices in a VMWare/VSphere environment.
- Manage and troubleshoot on-site and off-site backup via Veeam, Zerto, Nimble services.
- Build, test and maintain servers including Domain Controllers, file servers, Ubuntu, and NMS servers.
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices including patch management, antivirus software management and Microsoft Office Suite/O365.
- Upgrade system software, 3rd party software, and hardware components as required to meet business needs. Ensure upgrades occur in accordance with established parameters.
- Maintain and troubleshoot issues with fiber channel storage, network attached storage, and iSCSI storage products.
- Troubleshoot, remediate and document issues related to servers, computers, network, software and hardware. Recommend course of action and implement as approved.
- Analyze systems hardware/software problems and develop solutions for both front office and warehouse operations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain local active directory environments. i.e. groups, users, permissions, etc.
- Configure and maintain Cisco ASA firewalls, WAPs, switches, and firepower device.
