Overview:
Insight Global is seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to join the combustion team for one of their top clients in the energy industry. This position is based in Greenville, SC and is onsite (occasional remote work from time to time but mostly in the office). This role is focused around the modification of combustion components to ensure cost effectiveness for various projects. The engineer will be focused on cost reductions, development of cost models, mechanical design of hardware, drawing/definition, PLM/Bill of Materials, assembly support, and working cross-functionally with different teams. This position interfaces directly with external suppliers to review cost reduction ideas and cost impact. Manufacturing experience is a plus, as this position is hands-on in the shop reviewing modified parts for final assembly/launch. Ideally, this engineer will have experience with NX Unigraphics, but a similar software is acceptable. Familiarity with design, analysis, and manufacturing of turbine combustion components is a plus (nozzles, casings, caps, endcovers, etc). Understanding of how parts are made on mills and lathes, and familiarity with thermal strains and understanding of GDT concepts is a plus. Overall, the team is looking for a self-starter who is eager to learn!
Skillset:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong background in mechanical design of hardware (modeling/drafting/definition)
- Experience with NX or similar CAD software
- Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Some exposure to manufacturing environment or hands-on experience with tools (mill, lathe, welding)
