We are looking for a Production Manager for our Food Production plant in Linden, New Jersey.
The Production Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
Position Purpose
The basic responsibility of this role is to organize a department during a production shift as per SOPs governing the operation. This will include the efficient planning of Man, Material, Machine to produce Quality Goods efficiently and On Time. In addition, the role is responsible for constantly driving improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing a department(s) shifts operation.
- Working with quality to ensure full compliance with GMP, USDA, and FDA requirements within a department and ensure the department operates as per the agreed standards and protocols.
- Enforcing the agreed safety systems and procedures within a department to ensure a safe and accident-free environment.
- Managing the department to ensure delivery of the product to the agreed production schedule.
- Co-ordinating activities with maintenance, quality, and stores to ensure smooth reliable operation.
- Converting the production plan into a daily and shift plan that meets demand needs as well as optimizing the plant performance and efficiency.
People development and organization
- Efficient utilization of manpower to get the most productive department through proper shift schedules and Man-Machine allocation.
- Implementing training programs for both new staff and existing staff. Training includes but is not limited to running machines, following SOP’s as well as personal development training and team skills.
- Delivering one-on-one coaching and personal development to direct reports
Continual process improvement
- Implementing initiatives to continually improve the safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance of the plant.
Communication
- Communication with Subordinates and colleagues and giving updates about the daily, weekly, and monthly departmental plans.
- Communication with supporting departments, updating the department's production plan, and making schedules for Products delivery, CIP, Scheduled maintenance, etc.
Management Information Reports
- Preparing all the required departmental reports on time-related to production. Ex: Daily, Weekly, Monthly Reports, Breakdown analysis, etc.
- Putting in place measures to permanently correct any unfavorable trends in the report.
Functional Skills
- Technically competent in understanding technical problems and challenges.
- Good computer skills in Word, Excel –
- Good personal organization and planning skills
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to
- Communicate with all levels of the business.
- Ability to lead others and influence and drive change.
- High tolerance for stress and ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making under pressure.
Experience/Qualifications Needed:
- At least 5 years in a leadership role in Food Manufacturing
- 4-year degree preferred but not necessary
- Salary commensurate with qualifications/experience and accomplishments'
