Job Description: Systems Engineer
Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. This role includes maintaining critical IT infrastructure, such as Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, data center servers, and email systems. The Systems Engineer will also implement and maintain strategies for backup, security, and redundancy while proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure the security of data, network access, and backup systems, and manage firewalls and network appliances in collaboration with the InfoSec team.
- Supervise and coordinate Data Center activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and managing core systems.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, and performance analysis to enhance system stability, maintainability, and effectiveness.
- Configure, maintain, and administer server and network equipment, including hardware, software, and servers, in line with industry standards.
- Monitor system performance, implement corrective actions, and plan for future upgrades to ensure optimal infrastructure performance.
- Provide technical support for servers, networks, and data center operations, and resolve issues related to user-facing systems.
- Mentor IT team members in networking and system administration to improve their skills and enhance team capabilities.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Cisco routing and switching, data center management, and Meraki firewalls.
- Experience with Pure Storage, Cisco servers, and Cohesity backup solutions.
- Ability to work with outsourced voice solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of IT network experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent experience.
- Strong creative and analytical thinking skills.
- High level of professional integrity and discretion.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including holidays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary licensing.
