firstPRO is seeking an experienced Sr Systems Engineer for our client located in Northern Delaware. This role requires a deep understanding of virtualization technologies, cloud solutions, and infrastructure management, with a focus on maintaining high standards, ensuring security, and guiding a team of technology professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Windows and Linux server environments, disaster recovery planning, and enterprise-level systems design and implementation. This position offers the opportunity to lead critical technology initiatives, mentor staff, and manage cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and growing organization.
This role is a 6-month consulting opportunity and has a hybrid work model which requires 2 days onsite in Newark, DE.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical support for the company's client, server, and cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Establish and maintain technology standards across all environments.
- Prepare, test, and manage disaster recovery plans and procedures.
- Guide and mentor technology staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Provide expert guidance for the design and implementation of new technologies.
- Build, manage, and support Windows and Linux-based servers on VXRail and Nutanix platforms.
- Maintain and manage server hardware and related devices.
- Monitor and optimize server performance and related hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents independently and collaboratively.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for operational and support processes.
- Manage and support all aspects of Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Lead and support technology-based projects from conception to completion.
- Manage and support virtual infrastructure, including networking, storage, and security.
- Oversee endpoint security systems, including antivirus, patch management, and mobile device management (MDM).
- Provide support for 24x7 data center operations.
- Leverage cloud-based technologies and solutions to enhance business operations.
- Lead support efforts for enterprise VMware and Nutanix AHV environments.
- Support Active Directory, Entra ID, domain controllers, and CIS Level 1 Domain controller environments.
- Administer DNS and DHCP services.
- Collaborate with network/security teams on segmentation efforts and firewall management.
- Lead projects migrating from traditional VPN to Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA).
- Manage and support Citrix environments.
Requirements
- 7+ years of corporate experience in a similar role.
- Strong experience with enterprise virtualization technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, Citrix, or Microsoft.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and support contracts.
- Experience with VXRail and Nutanix hyper-converged server platforms.
- Expertise in Microsoft Server OS (2012R2, 2016, 2019) and Linux OS (Red Hat, CentOS).
- Experience with Microsoft client OS (Windows 10, 11).
- Strong experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID, and related management tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with experience in data center device management.
- Experience in the design and architecture of enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring solutions like Manage Engine OpsManager.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for support and escalation.
- Experience with certificate-based security and mobile device management.
- Microsoft, VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Citrix certifications are a plus.
