About the Company: The Piping Detailer/Designer works with the project team and peers to create detailed mechanical piping models, layouts, fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM) reports, and isometric spool drawing.
About the Role: Applicants will be able to effectively perform the following tasks:
Responsibilities:
- Works within the facilities to draw piping spools using Plant 3D/Revit and Spool Fab.
- Import/Export data from customer files such as Revit, Point Cloud, Navisworks, and BIM.
- Coordinate fabrication packages with Detailing Manager.
- Collaborate with many disciplines at W. Soule including Project Management, Purchasing, shop/field foreman and includes customer correspondence.
- Extract accurate BOM from fabrication drawings.
- Ability to release “Fabrication ready” drawings for shop/field work.
- Incorporate structural details (hangers/stands/mounts) regarding pipe mounting.
- Confer with supervisory personnel to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Working closely with the Detailing Manager, Shop Foreman, and shop personnel on drawing questions.
- Maintain department standards for consistency and recordkeeping set in place by Detailing Supervisor.
- Work with Detailing Manager to assure code or standard compliance (when applicable).
- Work with QA/QC where applicable to ensure all traceability documentation is created and maintained properly.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience with strong piping knowledge, capable in understanding/implementation of piping terminology, fittings, valves, weld joints/design, and applicable codes.
- Ability to review, mark-up, and modify drawings from others within the department.
- Flexible schedule.
- Effectively able to manage one’s time and stay organized.
- Able to give full attention to detailed conversations within the work environment and ask questions as appropriate.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Communicating openly/effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Able to mediate conflict toward a common solution.
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others’ actions.
- SolidWorks knowledge is preferred, but not required.
