Primary Function:
Under the direction of the campus Principal, I provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. My goal is to enable students to develop the competencies and skills needed to function successfully in society.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the District’s curriculum program requirements, with written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate diverse student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning needs of students.
- Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in line with District requirements.
- Supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
- Leverage technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
Student Growth and Development:
- Support students in analyzing and improving their study habits and methods.
- Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal testing, providing progress reports as needed.
- Take responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, sponsoring activities approved by the campus principal.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, supporting the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the student's physical, emotional, and social development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication:
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development:
- Participate in staff development programs to enhance job-related skills.
Policy Implementation:
- Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise assigned teacher aides and student teachers.
Other Responsibilities:
- Exhibit professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
- Serve as a role model for all district staff.
- Participate in approved professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the director.

- Subjects taught and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

Education/Licenses/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject/level.
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
- At least one semester of student teaching, one year of approved internship, or successful participation in an approved alternative certification program.

- Clear speaking abilities.
- Occasional district-wide and state-wide travel.
- Work occasional irregular hours and prolonged hours.
