The Project Manager in the Building Design Department oversees the planning, execution, and successful completion of architectural projects. This role blends leadership, organizational, and technical skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while adhering to high-quality standards. The Project Manager coordinates with Architects, Engineers, Draft Techs, and clients to achieve project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Building Design Division Manager/Architect to develop permit drawings and communicate with clients, consultants, and team members.
- Lead project teams, providing direction, guidance, and motivation while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Identify project requirements, constraints, and potential risks.
- Create and maintain project schedules, making adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.
- Address project issues proactively and ensure effective problem-solving.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, keeping them informed about project progress and changes, and maintaining client relationships.
- Ensure thorough project documentation, including contracts, reports, and change orders.
- Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM technologies for permit drawing development.
- Prepare and revise architectural documentation, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, and sections.
- Coordinate building systems with consultants and owners.
- Implement sustainable design principles into building designs and surrounding environments.
- Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present proposals for new projects, and communicate reports and dimensions to clients.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal teams and external consultants.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Engage in creative and critical thinking.
- Advanced knowledge of accessibility codes, building codes, and construction systems.
- Understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Develop floor plans, wall sections, and details with minimal direction.
- Excellent proofreading, time management, and design visualization skills.
- Coordinate drawings and specifications, and effectively communicate concepts.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; experience with SketchUp and Lumion preferred.
- Ability to prepare clear, professionally written reports.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field preferred.
- Expert knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
- Pursuing architectural licensing required.
