Senior Estimator Job Description:
The ideal candidate should be adept in the Commercial, Multifamily, Education, and Healthcare sectors. This role is pivotal in generating precise estimates, fostering collaborative stakeholder relationships, and driving projects to meet budgetary and scheduling targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, requirements, and specifications.
- Execute precise quantity takeoffs and material pricing.
- Develop both detailed and conceptual estimates across different design stages.
- Calculate labor costs and construction equipment needs.
- Oversee the procurement process, ensuring timely material orders.
- Analyze and compare trade bids, securing essential bid documentation.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Facilitate post-bid award estimates in collaboration with project managers.
- Prepare subcontractor bid lists and distribute drawings accordingly.
- Engage actively in bid day compilation and preliminary quote reviews with the Project Manager.
- Support and participate in RFP and RFQ processes, showcasing strong presentation and negotiation skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, supplemented by substantial industry experience.
- 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in the construction field.
- Demonstrated expertise as the lead on at least 10 projects in the preconstruction phase, each with budgets exceeding $30M.
- Capable of independently managing projects ranging from $30M to $60M.
- Experience managing a preconstruction team, including 2-4 direct reports.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Timberline Estimating, MS Office Suite, and familiarity with CMiC is advantageous.
