Our client, a major Oil & Gas company, is looking for a Quality Engineering Specialist to work on an initial 12-months contract in Midland, TX
Job Specifications
- Coordinate all quality assurance efforts during the procurement of services and the procurement, delivery, and installation of tangible goods, drilling tools and drilling service-related goods.
- Reports to Quality Assurance & Improvement Lead and/ Operations Superintendents / Drilling Engineer Manager.
- Closely collaborate with counterparts within Permian Wells Delivery Operations Superintendents for Drilling, Well Integrity, Petroleum Engineering

- • To coordinate all quality assurance efforts during the procurement of services and the procurement, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of drilling equipment and service-related goods.
- Working often independently to complete a task, while updating the Operations and Quality Leadership as to the status.
- Work both in office and field.
- Assist Drilling departments and procurement by coordinating quality assurance/quality control functions in the planning and implementation of all well construction activity.
- Have primary responsibility of all quality assurance documents that may be included in the bid packages.
- This will encompass supplier assessments, stewardship of continuous improvement discussions, monitoring and reporting on suppler performance, review of procedures and specifications for ordering, transporting, and installing tangible goods may also be included.
- Review of supplier inspection acceptance and rejection criteria as well as maintenance procedures for drilling and service-related product.
- Assist in evaluating engineering test results specific to R&D Projects and Prototype Equipment.
- Perform failure analysis, as well as interpret lab analysis results of failed components, and generate failure analysis reports containing conclusions and recommendations to prevent the failure from re-occurring.

Key Job Accountabilities
- Develop and implement inspection acceptance and rejection criteria, as well as maintenance procedures for newly qualified equipment.
- Provide on-site assistance as requested during installation of equipment and execution of services to ensure compliance to company operating procedures and contract specifications.
- Witness and supervise all critical pre-job inspection activities relate to service contractors’ equipment.
- Provide effective training and development of the Drilling and Completion engineering, operations, procurement, and logistic personnel in implementation of company endorsed quality assurance procedures.
- Assist establishing process and be primarily responsible for monitoring and benchmarking progress in all quality assurance activities.
- Provide quality and technical related support in clarification meetings with contracts engineers during supplier evaluations.
- Work with Supply & Procurement to establish and maintain management system to readily determine which suppliers have and have not provided materials and services at a competitive price and in timely manner.
- Provide guidance, training, and advise other Quality Engineers & Quality Analysts on all QA/QC related issues and procedures.
- Establish and maintain processes to monitor benchmark progress in all Quality Assurance activities.
- Provide on-site assistance during installation of equipment and execution of services to ensure compliance to company operating procedures and contract specifications.
Qualifications Knowledge and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is desired.
- Qualifications Knowledge and/or Experience
- 8 years’ experience in drilling/oilfield related inspection, manufacturing, or quality/procurement. At least 2 years in a position requiring minimal daily supervision.
- General background of 5 years in quality assurance/quality control programs related to goods and services used in drilling and completion operations.
- Technical and Business Skills Thorough knowledge of sound quality assurance practices.
- Abreast of best practices and latest technology in meeting minimum industry standards and specifications (such as API and/or ISO 9000, ASME, NACE, etc.) for manufacturing, inspecting, transporting, installation and storing oilfield equipment.
- General knowledge of Oilfield Drilling Engineering and Operations.
- Experience in Drilling Engineering and Operations is highly desirable.
- General knowledge of oil field Drilling Engineering and operations.
- Knowledge of Material Selection/Engineering, Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Nonconformance Reporting and Continuous Improvement Systems.
