The Maintenance Technician performs a range of work in the maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and fleet equipment. Delivers supplies and materials to the Regional Council’s offices; receives and stores supplies in proper storage areas. Repairs, assembles and installs furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Refills soap dispenser, maintains toilet flush valve functionality, floor drain (water seal), refills air fresheners, and replaces batteries on a variety of automated devices to help maintain the restrooms. Replaces existing light bulbs throughout building as needed. Spot cleans carpeted areas for spills i.e. coffee and any other stains. Keeps and monitors the cleanliness of trash dumpster site. Reviews and picks-up PTRC grounds to maintain clear of any and all debris. Set-up tables and chairs for assorted meetings in conference room. Schedules, coordinates, and transports fleet vehicles for services and repairs. The employee coordinates with vendors for annual system inspections and preventative maintenance. The employee maintains records of building key access and sign-in and out office keys as needed. Schedules snow and ice removal as needed. Monitors and coordinates the work the contracted landscaping and grounds maintenance crew(s). Visually inspects and cleans out roof drains, down spouts, and courtyard drains. Performs elevator fire service monthly recall test and records data in logbook. Performs a monthly visual check for proper operation of all exit and emergency lights. Responds to miscellaneous staff requests to hang pictures, assemble and move file cabinet, repair locks, and other office maintenance requests.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: PTRC needs an experienced and skilled individual with considerable knowledge of the procedures, materials and equipment related to the facility maintenance trades. Work requires the general knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in performing trades work.
The Maintenance Technician
- Five years of building maintenance experience in a business, hotel or apartment setting.
- Minor plumbing and electrical experience.
- Strong background in carpentry.
- Able to facilitate and coordinate lawn care, HVAC, and other sub-contractors.
- Able to use Microsoft office.

Also needs the ability to make decisions and take prompt and effective action in emergency situations; the ability to keep records and prepare reports; the ability to understand and work from blueprints and specifications. The employee must be able to perform heavy manual labor required by work assignments and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. The education and experience requirements of the job are graduation from high school. This position will require a self-motivated individual that can work with little supervision to complete daily and weekly assignments. Must be task oriented and able to work independently. The candidate will be responsible for ordering bathroom and other building supplies as well as daily routine maintenance. Must be able to lift 50lbs.Flexible thirty hour position with full time benefits. If you are selected to fill the role of Maintenance Technician, you will need to present a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, pass the pre-employment drug screen and background screening process. All of our PTRC staff is required to complete a probationary employment period.
