Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Critical Care Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in our intensive care unit (ICU) or other critical care settings. Your expertise, attention to detail, and ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations will be crucial in delivering the highest quality patient care.
Responsibilities: Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, neurological status, and laboratory results, to develop individualized care plans.
Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor and interpret patient data, recognizing any changes or deterioration in their condition, and take prompt action as necessary.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosages and monitoring for potential side effects.
Equipment Management: Operate and maintain critical care equipment, such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps, ensuring they are in proper working order.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to plan and implement the best course of treatment for patients.
Family Support: Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, explaining their loved one's condition, treatment plan, and progress.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Emergency Response: Respond swiftly and efficiently to emergencies within the critical care unit, including code situations, and assist with life-saving interventions.
Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
Education and Training: Stay current with advances in critical care nursing through ongoing education and training, sharing knowledge with colleagues as necessary.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, providing feedback and suggestions to enhance patient care processes.
Qualifications: - Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or equivalent highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an RN in a critical care setting.
- Advanced knowledge of critical care nursing principles and practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS certification preferred.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
