About the Department:The Peter A. Pappas Real Estate Development Program will provide a comprehensive approach to real estate development, focusing on land-use, transportation and open-space planning. This builds upon and formalizes the work undertaken by the Initiative for Community Growth, directed by Chuck Flink, Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and housed at the College of Design.
Essential Job Duties:The Operations + Design Lead plays an important role in shaping and executing the visual language of our program, ensuring that our mission is clearly reflected across various platforms, including websites, reports, presentations, and exhibitions. In this role you will closely collaborate with directors, faculty, students, and administrative staff to develop visually sophisticated and memorable storytelling through design.
Additionally, you will help to manage the day-to-day operations of the program including assisting or leading: events, communications, budget + finance administration, HR support, and other administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the design process from concept to execution, aligning all creative work with the Program’s branding and objectives.
- Work closely with research teams to create polished communication materials that effectively convey their work.
- Design and produce a variety of creative assets such as branding materials, marketing collateral, and digital graphics.
- Provide creative direction and strategy for both internal projects and sponsored research initiatives.
- Assist with day-to-day operations, including event planning, communications, budget and finance management, HR support, and other administrative tasks.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, manage media and stakeholder lists, and handle public relations efforts including press releases and social media content.

Minimum Experience/Education:Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications:- Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).
- Excellent knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
- Strong conceptual and creative thinking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for producing visually compelling designs.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationales clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of digital design trends, including responsive design and user experience principles.
- Ability to provide support for a program to include attention to detail, problem solving, customer service and excellent verbal and written communications skills while supporting and applying the unit’s mission and goals.
