Health Services Information Technology Supervisor
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $156,000 - $176,800 per year
Location: Martinez, CA - Hybrid Role
Job Summary:
Under general direction, you will manage an independent information technology workgroup and serve as a project lead on information technology projects within the Health Services Information Technology Unit, supervise junior professional and technical staff, and perform related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, coordinate, and participate in the operational activities for an assigned information systems workgroup, including application development, application support, end-user support and training, server administration, or systems security.
- Select, train, motivate, and evaluate information technology personnel.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, and review the work of staff responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining hardware and software applications and provide non-technical support to system users.
- Analyze information system requirements and design and implement processes or improvements that promote increased efficiency and effectiveness; identify resource needs, drafts, or update system documentation; coordinate and provide user training as appropriate; and allocate resources accordingly.
- Provide technical leadership and direction in all software and hardware selection phases, product development, implementation, testing, and support.
- Manage assigned projects and budgets; monitor project and budget performance and compliance with applicable specifications, rules, regulations, and laws related to information systems analysis. Ensure quality and timeliness of work performed.
- Research new and evolving computer technologies and recommend systems and improvements for the department; prepare analytical and statistical reports.
- Guide the development of new or enhanced HSD systems, policies, and practices.
- Participate in developing policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Make recommendations for changes to existing standards and procedures.
- Support the Epic Tapestry module and create claim rules, member co-pay and deductible set-up, plan set-up, benefit set-up, and provider set-up. Work collaboratively to program computers to comply with rules.
- Manage the Performance Management Unit and advise the CEO on business and policy issues and decisions relating to healthcare systems management.
- Prepare and analyze reports as requested by the CEO and COO to assist in future planning for the Health Plan.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Provide and promote excellence in customer service for internal and external customers.

Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field
- 3+ years of experience as a manager, supervisor, or project lead in an information technology environment
- 2+ years of experience in a healthcare IT environment performing application support, development, data analysis and report development, systems analysis, technical support, or network and server administration
- You may be required to obtain and maintain vendor-specific certifications on supported applications. Possession of professional technical certifications can substitute for required education:
- Epic certifications: Ambulatory, Tapestry, Epic Resolute Hospital Billing, Epic Care Everywhere, Health Information Management, Prelude (Grand Central), EpicCare Inpatient (ClinDoc), Epic Client Systems Administrator/Manager (ECSM), or Operational Database Administrator
- Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS)
- Health Level 7 (HL7) certification
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), VMWare Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), VMWare Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Principles of healthcare administration and health plan operations
- Principles of leadership, management, supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Budget development and management
- Information systems principles and their applications in a health services environment
- Methods and techniques used to develop, test, and implement systems
- Understanding of information systems design, implementation, and management strategies
- Project and change management
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to supervise, review, and coordinate the work of junior professional and technical personnel
