The Supervisor Mechanical Engineering will be accountable for the nitrogen facility Mechanical Integrity program. The incumbent will develop, evaluate and design plant projects and modifications to improve efficiency and reliability. These projects can enhance plant safety, environmental compliance and mechanical integrity. They will interface with outside consultants and vendors and will provide complete project management for capital projects including budgeting, scheduling, directing work scope and supervising all activities associated with project assignments. The incumbent will mentor, provide leadership and guidance to team members.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 15+ years engineering experience in process or closely related industry required
- Supervisory experience leading technical or project teams required
- Knowledge of process industry Mechanical Integrity requirements
- Knowledge of process industry equipment and structural design standards required
- Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis desired
- Experience in inspecting, maintaining vessels and piping desired
- Demonstrated ability for managing multiple projects, priorities and objectives desired
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC)
- Strong mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills with MS Office products
- Fluent in English, oral and written required
- Experience with Inspection Database Management Software desired (PCMS preferred)
- Experience with ASME, API, NB and related codes and specifications required
- Fluent in English, oral and written required.
- Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accountable for the successful development, design and execution of projects
- Accountable for the overall performance of the site Mechanical Integrity program and equipment inspection schedules
- Provide leadership and supervision for group and team members
- Provide Technical Support for Plant Operations and Maintenance
- Mentor and, at times, provide leadership to engineers and technicians in the facility
- Propose new work procedures that will impact efficiency and effectiveness
- Assist the group in development of Key Process Indicators and other process monitoring tools
- Prioritize group projects and activities and coordinate with overall plant needs
- Assist the group interactions with Safety, Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, Accounting and Purchasing
- Effectively interact with outside vendors, contract engineering services, and Industry Groups
- Provide field supervision support for critical equipment
- Act as consultant to field personnel on specific repair problems
- Develop expertise for critical equipment
- Develop individual equipment specifications and provide recommendations on technology and bid selection
- Within his/her sphere of responsibility, ensure drawing reviews and specific Management of Change Orders are reviewed on a timely basis
- Participate in equipment inspections, process safety reviews and process hazard analysis
- Participate in facility turnarounds, including any required 24-hour shift coverage and support for individual process callout requirements
- Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
