Responsibilities:
- Unscheduled call-offs must not exceed 2 times per year; 3 or more call-offs indicate that the standard is not met.
- Assess the patient's condition quickly and concisely, determining the best treatment course, which may involve ordering labs or imaging, consulting with the Emergency Physician, or referring to specialists.
- Collaborate with other mid-level providers to ensure 24/7 coverage of all shifts in the Emergency Department.
- Conduct thorough history and physical examinations based on the patient's presenting complaint and document findings in the medical record.
- Limit valid complaints to no more than 3 per year.
- Perform routine procedures as needed, such as splinting, reductions, laceration repairs, and I&Ds.
- Complete patient charts and discharge instructions thoroughly, ensuring 95% of charts are completed by the end of the shift and any remaining within 3 days.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements from agencies like OSHA, CLIA, and the PA Department of Health.
- Maintain patient throughput at or above 90% of the average benchmark based on site volume.
- Ensure a face-to-face contact between patients and physicians, with every patient chart reviewed by a physician.
Required:
- Graduate of physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review.
- Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA).
Preferred:
- BS or MS candidate.
- Experience as physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
A current practicing state Physician Assistant License , certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Physician Assistant (PA) OR Physician Assistant Osteopathic
- Physician Assistant Certified (NCCPA)
