What You Will Do:
Responsible for the support and operations of data protection, availability, backup and recovery technologies in use for backup, protection, and recovery of varied workloads included but not limited to Windows, Linux, VMware, HyperV, CIFS, NFS, MSSQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle. Work with various teams to ensure data protection policies are applied, documented and tested as appropriate. Completes any other job related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
What We Will Require:
Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems or comparable education and\or experience. Minimum of four (4) years directly related to backup\recovery\data protection infrastructure experience. Solid understanding of backup\recovery technologies and techniques across multiple workloads including but not limited Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, CIFS, NFS, MSSQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle. Solid understanding of backup technologies, procedures, and best practices. Solid understanding of Enterprise storage arrays, fiber-channel switches, zoning, and data protection\replication methodologies and capabilities. Experience with operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Red Hat and other flavors of Linux, as well as virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V. Proficient in scripting languages and visualization platforms (Grafana, GraphQL, Python, PowerShell, Power BI, UNIX shell scripting, etc...). Detail-oriented, with excellent project organization and analytical skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Able to take direction from Sr. Engineers and Administrators. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Work flexible hours as needed, including possible nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Excellent customer facing skills. Able to effectively communicate well with peers and superiors. Able to read and comprehend technical material and apply the principles learned. Capable reviewing and updating data protection procedures and policies, as necessary.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Deliver first tier support and operations within the organization's backup\recovery\protection technology space. Monitor and maintain use and availability of backup\recovery\protection infrastructure. Coordinate with internal customers to backup\recovery\protection requests. Work closely with DR\BC team and Application Support team to ensure backup\recovery\protection objectives are met. Troubleshoot backup\recovery\protection infrastructure to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. Maintains overall backup\recovery\protection infrastructure health across the organization in an effort to reduce operational risks. Develop and maintain system documentation and reporting for purposes of inventory, knowledge transfer, processes, procedures, and resource usage. Develop and produce regular protection status reports. Develop, document, and perform recoverability audits in conjunction with DR\BC team to ensure successful recovery.
