Performs highly advanced (senior-level) cybersecurity network engineering work. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may be considered accomplished technical experts in the field and may:
- Analyze, review, and/or audit the requirements of the overall security of the enterprise network.
- Present cybersecurity recommendations for network facilities, analyze user support statistics, and implement appropriate measures.
- Advise on multiple projects, and/or provide cybersecurity network-centered advisement on some of the most complex network projects, including those involving highly complex planning, designing, and integrating of local area or wide area network, Internet and intranet systems, and other data networks.
- May participate or advise in Architectural Review Boards and Change Management Boards.
Minimum Years of Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- 8 Years: Networking experience as an engineer, senior manager, or cybersecurity networking engineer
- 8 Years: Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- 8 Years: Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve specific network problems; and to communicate effectively to both network administrators and executives alike.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 8 Years: Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, network operating system and security software, and performance monitoring and capacity management tools.
- 8 Years: Knowledge of network protocols, at the border, transport, and routing interfaces and methods for isolating, segmenting, and analyzing traffic at appropriate points.
- 8 Years: Constructing, writing and presenting professional level reports, conducting briefings and providing excellent customer service.
