ABOUT THE ROLE
Avenues students will graduate fluent in a second language and at ease beyond their borders. To this end, in the younger grades, students alternate days between English and Spanish or Chinese classrooms.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate intensively with Chinese and English partners to design learning outcomes, monitor growth, and thoughtfully address individual student needs
- Co-design and teach innovative curriculum that engages all learners in meaningful and challenging work that cultivates real-world problem solving skills and develops social responsibility
- Deeply connect with students, colleagues and parents to vigorously uphold a culture of welcome, safety and respect.
- Invoke a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to deeply value being at school and feel part of a rigorous and joyful learning community.
- Participate actively in ongoing professional learning
What You Bring
- Student teaching or equivalent experience with children in grades 1-5
- Full professional fluency in Mandarin Chinese
- Understanding of instructional skills to teach through a balanced literacy approach in the reading and writing workshop model
- Experience with problem-based mathematics instruction
- Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals together
- Deep dedication to continued learning and growth as an educator
- Respect for and appreciation of a diverse community of learners, families and colleagues
- Ability to embrace change and consider new perspectives
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree encouraged

Additional Information
If hired for this position, the annual compensation range is $53,000.00 - $67,000.00. Competitive benefits for benefits eligible roles include medical, dental, life insurance, 401K savings plan, generous paid time off, family forming benefits, health and wellness benefits and more.
