Role Summary:
Manage the strategic fuzzy front end innovation process and lead a front-end innovation team to connect various functions (e.g., strategic business management, technology and product development, engineering and manufacturing, sales/marketing) across business units within Flowserve to identify and shape the development of value-creating innovations funnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging technologies, innovation opportunities, trends, relevant to our industry and business needs. Collect feedback from cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technology scouting initiatives.
- Working closely with Strategic Business Management teams to collect, organize and make sense of the market, business and technology trends that will shape the acceptance and practicality of new products, services, and business models.
- Synthesize and clarify competitive opportunities to establish the most effective starting point for innovation.
- Assess various options of new product/solution concepts through rapid proof of concept and design thinking projects.
- Establish proposal and present recommendations to senior management on potential investment in technology development and/or partnership, as well as potential technology acquisition.
- Conduct regular reviews with business leaders across the organization and share the latest update on the innovation funnel to support business growth.
- Follow latest innovation in technology and trends to build the consolidated trend watch and share best practices with internal community.
- Build and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, technology vendors, startups, and academic institutions to identify potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering, Science, or related field, with more than 15 years experience in technology and innovation. Advanced degree in technology or business management would be very helpful.
- Proven experience in developing and commercializing new products or solutions enabled by differentiating technologies and go-to-market strategy.
- Experience in technology scouting, innovation management, or related roles in industrial engineering and/or energy space.
- Experience in identifying and developing technology partnerships and/or investment opportunities.
- Experience in research and innovation activities, with design thinking experience considered as an asset.
- Ability to apply a methodical approach to complex information and synthesize opportunities that leads to potential new product/solution concepts.
- Ability to maintain and expand effective networks for potential partnership and collaboration opportunities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to manage multiple projects and collaborative efforts across businesses.
