Position: Assistant Project Manager, Development
Position Description:
DBI Projects is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to work on real estate projects during all phases of their lifecycle, with a focus on advisory development services. Specifically, this position will support senior team members providing Planning, Real Estate Advisory, and Development Management services. This position provides the opportunity for a candidate to develop the requisite skills and expertise to advise clients and manage projects. A desire to be heavily involved with all aspects of strategy & planning, design, and development is required
The APM will be assigned to a group of projects to provide analysis and support, which may include financial modeling, graphics and layout, facilities/organizational assessments and stakeholder interviews, project management support of master planning and capital projects, including management of consultants, budgets, and contracts.
Required Experience & Skill:
The ideal candidate should have 4–6 years of experience in urban planning, architecture, community and economic development, real estate finance, consulting, or related fields.
- A graduate degree in real estate, urban planning, or architecture is preferred, but not required. Previous work experience and/or coursework should demonstrate strong analytical, research skills, and writing skills.
- Engaged listener with a talent for synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information in a format that is easily understood and tailored to the audience.
- Strong design eye for graphic visualization of information, mapping, concept design and massing, and laying out and communicating information to others.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to track multiple pieces of information, actions, and projects over time.
Key capabilities include:
- Fluency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and particularly Excel)
- Adobe Create Suite, specifically InDesign & Illustrator.
- Knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) is preferred.
- Knowledge of architectural drawing software, such as AutoCAD (and Bluebeam) is preferred, but not required.
- Ability and eagerness to learn new tools and software, as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze market, real estate, demographic, and institutional data, research best practices, current trends, and comparables for real estate and planning.
- Prepare presentations, reports, memos, and other materials for clients, and as needed, in a graphically visual way.
- Assist in interview/engagement meetings with clients and stakeholder groups, including preparation of meeting materials and synthesis of the feedback in a visual and easily digestible manner.
- Assist in financial analysis and pro formas, and support development of scenarios to evaluate different deal structures and types of financing.
- Review funding opportunities like grants and organize submission requirements. Provide support to client in finance closing
- Assist in the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs) on behalf of clients, leveling of responses, selection process, and consultant onboarding & contracting.
- Coordinate and provide support to project team members, including design and construction professionals, attorneys, financial advisors, and planning consultants.
- Prepare and track project work plans, budgets, and schedules for internal and external reporting, including raising awareness to any potential challenges, changes, or priorities.
- Review design drawings, reports, research, budgets, schedules, and other project related documents with the goal of summarizing any highlights, challenges or issues, and/or strategizing for potential solutions or alternatives.
- Produce complete invoices and requisitions for clients and lenders with all required documentation and organization, as needed.
- Prepare clear and actionable emails, updates, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and follow ups.

Location: This position is in our New York City office, 5 days a week in-person.

The salary range for this full-time role is $70-$90K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary.
