The Role:
As a Controls Technician - Systems Software Engineer II, you will be a key player in the development, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- A must-have: someone with Tridium, Alerton, Distech, Johnson Controls "Metasys," Siemens "Desigo or Apogee," and other relevant building automation/controls programming knowledge.
- Database programming and custom graphics development for building management systems.
- Leading initial systems point-to-point commissioning activities.
- Troubleshooting local and wide area network issues.
- Pre-functional testing of system software code.
- Final systems functional testing (standard, 3rd party, LEED, Title 24).
- Working with 3rd party integrations of other vendor products, systems, and protocols.
- Field coordination of installing subcontractors.
- End user/customer system training.
- Project turnover from construction to service.
- Assisting design engineers with sequence of operations validation.
- Managing field time and budgets.
- Leading field teams on mid-sized projects.
- Communicating effectively with team members.
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior-level Systems Software Engineers.
What You'll Bring:
- Technical Prowess: Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in building automation systems. Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Programming Expertise: Proven commercial programming ability and experience troubleshooting systems in a real-world environment.
- HVAC Understanding: Deep knowledge of HVAC operations within a facility (if working in controls).
- Ignition SCADA Mastery: Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, including Core Certification (Gold a plus), Perspective/Vision development, PLC/Modbus/Bacnet integration, and Python development.
- Systems Integration: Familiarity with Johnson Controls, Tridium, Alerton, and/or Distech systems.
- Network Savvy: Solid understanding of IT networks, controller communication protocols, and gateway networking.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Team Player: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Organized & Problem Solver: Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with MS Office, Windows, and basic TCP/IP network structure
