Led by a strong leadership team, the company generates excellent profitability and has experienced high rates of organic growth across economic cycles, including through the pandemic. The company has also successfully grown through multiple acquisitions. Revenue is more than $300 million.
Since its partnership three years ago with a premier private equity firm, the firm has invested millions of dollars to expand the company’s operations, facilities, technology, and leadership. The company has recently completed a significant facility expansion at its primary distribution center and is in the process of implementing enterprise-level ERP / WMS / OMS systems.
The company is now seeking to strengthen its technical leadership with a Director of Technology Operations as the business continues to scale organically and via an aggressive acquisition strategy.
Position Summary
The company is seeking a seasoned Director of Technology Operations reporting to the CTO to lead the evolution of our hybrid cloud environment. This role will create the vision and strategic direction for unifying 8 disparate businesses into a common architecture. The key areas of oversight will include infrastructure, networking, identity management, security and help desk. Currently, the most immediate needs reside in the areas of networking and identity management. This is an opportunity to lead and drive an infrastructure transformation, build a talented team, and play a key role in delivering a secure, performant, and scalable technology backbone for a fast-paced eCommerce organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate and align with executive leadership and business presidents on strategic technical operational initiatives that will support the three-year business strategy
- Lead digital transformations that include moving away from monolithic platforms towards state-of-the-art systems
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Design, implement, and manage our hybrid cloud environment, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises systems and cloud services.
- Network Infrastructure: Strong Cisco expertise (firewalls, switches, wireless) in distributed environments, including advanced routing
- Deep proficiency in core infrastructure services (compute, networking, storage, etc.), architecture, and optimization
- MS 365 and Google Workspace Administration experience
- Active Directory either Hybrid, in the Cloud, or on-premise experience
- Identity management using Azure with SSO
- Oversee daily operations of our technology infrastructure, providing guidance and escalation support to our team.
- Drive budgeting, vendor management, and infrastructure roadmap development in support of business goals.
- Plan and execute cloud migration projects, ensuring efficient and secure data and workload transitions.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and emerging technologies, aligning them with our business needs.
- Conduct infrastructure assessments to identify optimization opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with our CTO and security operations partner to ensure infrastructure designs incorporate security principles and align with compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years in a senior tech operation role, with a track record of managing and leading development teams
- Deep subject matter experience in Microsoft cloud architecture and strategy
- CISCO certifications strongly recommended. Experience with Juniper networks highly desirable
- Knowledge of Entra ID, Intune
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: In-depth knowledge of Veeam and Azure Backup solutions.
- Virtualization: Extensive experience with VMware vSphere and VMware VSAN.
- Storage: Familiarity with Dell PowerVault ME5 Arrays and AWS QNAP.
- VPN: In-depth knowledge of PFSense and OpenVPN for secure remote access.
- Proven experience in hybrid cloud environments, networking, and identity management
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
