Project Engineer - Mechanical

Amalgamated Sugar Company has an opening for a Project Engineer – Mechanical working at the Nampa Factory in Nampa, Idaho. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.
We are looking for an engineer that can develop and manage large process improvement projects. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple projects, prepare budgets and proposals, develop bid engineering packages for contractor bidding, order and secure equipment and materials through requisitions and purchase orders. They would also coordinate the efforts of several departments and provide a leadership role in the development, installation, and monitoring of each project through commissioning.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, preferably in Mechanical or Structural Engineering. A professional engineering license or the desire to obtain a license is a plus.
- 2-5 years’ experience in related field preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience in processing systems in a manufacturing environment and current engineering design practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project with the ability to adapt quickly to other software programs.
- AutoCAD plant 3D and Navisworks experience a plus; ability to draw P&ID’s, PFD’s, layout drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
- Possess a working knowledge of industrial pumps and piping systems, material handling, heat transfer and thermodynamics.
- Possess food safety knowledge and be able to incorporate GMPs in all engineered planning, design, construction, and operation.
- Some knowledge of structural design, power distribution, process control, and process chemistry would be a plus.
