Our client in Mason, OH is seeking a temporary Mechanical Design Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new parts and assemblies for the consumer and industrial industry, including sheet metal, plastics, and machined parts
- Review engineering development to ensure quality meets customer expectations and regulatory specifications (UL, CE, NSF)
- Identify and recommend cost reduction, reliability improvement, and lead time reduction methods while maintaining performance
- Update existing models and drawings per Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
- Create system specifications from conceptual ideas and stakeholder input, developing 3D models with assembly detail, equipment lists, and dimensions
- Create CAD models and drawings for prototype and production components
- Collaborate with purchasing to identify and source qualified suppliers, reviewing their cost and capability
- Review and approve supplier drawings for manufacturing
- Analyze models and designs for cost, strength, and manufacturability
- Utilize Simulation & FEA Software for part and assembly assessment
- Report project status to upper management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or related field experience
- Experience in design engineering, preferably in consumer and industrial products
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks- Must)
- Knowledge of regulatory specifications (UL, CE, NSF) and industry standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Simulation & FEA Software (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation)
