Field IT Support Specialist Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Field IT Support Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for providing IT support and project management for our corporate offices in Houston and our remote offices across the US including our major operational areas of West Texas (Midland, Odessa), South Texas (San Antonio, Pearsall), North Dakota (Williston), North East (Mill Hall, Lamont Furnace) and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded skillset, including experience in general IT support, networking, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site project support of IT systems including installation and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and networks at remote office locations
- Coordinate and execute technology upgrades and infrastructure projects, such as desktop hardware replacements, conference room AV upgrades, communications systems upgrades, and operational system migrations
- Collaborate with the corporate IT teams to implement standardized policies and procedures across the remote offices
- Identify and address pain points in the remote offices, gathering requirements, proposing and implementing solutions
- Maintain and monitor network equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless access points
- Troubleshoot connectivity for cell phones and hot spots; working with Ubiquity bridges
- Provide training and guidance to end-users on the use of IT systems and applications
- Assist with the management of third-party vendors and contractors as needed
- Participate in project planning, documentation, and status reporting
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a desktop support or IT generalist role
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a wide range of IT technologies
- Familiarity with networking concepts and experience working with Cisco, Meraki, and other networking equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other common business applications
- Project management experience, including the ability to create plans, manage timelines, and coordinate stakeholders
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time to remote office locations
- Background in the oil and gas industry or similar field-based environment preferred
