We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal/Sr. Principal Cloud Software Engineer based out of San Diego, CA ORMelbourne, FL. As a Principal/Sr. Principal Cloud Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:
The selected individual will play a critical role in the development and delivery of the programs cloud adoption and migration efforts.
Roles & Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Develop automated deployments for IaaS system configurations
- Execute plan for cloud migration of existing VM architecture
- Execute engineering projects on schedule in a DevOps environment
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline procedures
- Implement high-speed, reliable, fault-tolerant cloud solutions for a hybrid cloud environment
- Support implementation of solutions that fully integrate with the cloud service provider’s infrastructure (data flow, security, etc.)
- Advise on integration of new emerging industry cloud technologies to the program’s environment
- Implement engineering change requests (ECR) to the system as required
- Manage CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployment of infrastructure and applications
- Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment
- Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels
- Occasional travel may be required
This position may be filled as a Principal Cloud Software Engineer or Sr. Principal Cloud Software Engineer.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications for Principal Cloud Software Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years with a PhD; OR an additional 4 years of relevant experience/education in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Experience deploying applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and can elaborate on the “-aaS” hierarchy
- Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Powershell, VisualBasic, Java,C/C++, or similar
- Basic infrastructure knowledge in cloud backup/storage and network technologies
- Working knowledge of Red Hat Linux subsystems
- Experience deploying and managing containers
- Current Cloud Certification (Cloud+CE, CCSP, or similar) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Cloud Software Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 9 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 4 years with a PhD; OR an additional 4 years of relevant experience/education in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Experience deploying applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and can elaborate on the “-aaS” hierarchy
- Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Powershell, VisualBasic, Java,C/C++, or similar
- Basic infrastructure knowledge in cloud backup/storage and network technologies
- Working knowledge of Red Hat Linux subsystems
- Experience deploying and managing containers
- Current Cloud Certification (Cloud+CE, CCSP, or similar) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge in deploying secure applications in a hybrid cloud environment
- Prior experience migrating legacy architecture to cloud environments
- Infrastructure automation experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
- Experience developing highly scalable applications using service-oriented, microservice, and/or RESTful API based architectures at an enterprise scale
- Extensive knowledge in developing software architectures, especially microservice architectures
- Familiarity in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Cybersecurity Lifecycle to include: identifying controls and overlays, generating testable requirements, identifying resilient architecture design, configuring, running, and scripting audit tools, providing analysis of vulnerability analyses, conducting verification testing for compliance assessment
- Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, FedRAMP or JSIG information system environments
- Lead architecture and code reviews with internal and external team members
- Current DoD 8570/8140 IA Certification (Security+CE or similar) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Active TS clearance
Salary Range: $92,600 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $114,900 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
