System Administrator
The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the ecommerce organization's computer systems and network infrastructure. Their duties include installing and configuring servers and network devices, ensuring system security, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and managing user accounts and permissions.
Responsibilities:
Provision, configure, and maintain server hardware and software
Continuously monitor server and network performance
Implement and manage security measures
Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts
Apply software patches, updates, and security fixes to servers and systems
Diagnose and resolve technical issues
Maintain configuration management databases (CMDBs) to track and document system configurations and changes
Forecast and plan for system resource needs
Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation
Set up and manage data backup and recovery processes
Skills and Expertise:
Proficiency in managing and maintaining computer systems, servers, and networks
Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or Unix
Skill in managing user accounts, permissions, and access control
Effective knowledge of server hardware and software maintenance
Capability to perform system backups and disaster recovery planning
Proficiency in network administration, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and routing
Understanding of virtualization technologies and cloud platforms
Ability to automate routine tasks and system management using scripting languages
Skill in security practices and procedures to protect systems and data
Knowledge of system monitoring and performance tuning to ensure reliability and availability
Effective communication skills to assist end-users and collaborate with IT teams
Experience Required:
2-5 years of relevant work experience in system administration or related roles
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
