The American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) is seeking a part-time Independent Contractor Instructional Design Specialist to work up to 40 hours per week.
We anticipate the length of this assignment to be through December 31, 2024, with the possibility of an extension if there is a business need to do so. The target pay is $25-$30 per hour. The American College of Chest Physicians is located in Glenview, IL. The individual in this position will work in a hybrid work environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and/or update 5-8 e-Learning modules in Articulate 360. (Draft curriculum, input content into authoring software, design art assets, storyboards, record audio, and perform reviews and edits with faculty and staff)
- Design and develop 2-3 interactive infographics in articulate or other assigned software. (Assist with faculty content management and data reporting. Optimize for mobile usage, create design assets, and develop content.)
- Support 3-5 webinars and/or podcasts with CHEST and ReachMD. (Attend prep calls, draft interview frameworks, implement edits, and attend recording calls. Review final recordings and collect all final assets for deployment on website.)
- Prepare VR headsets and applicable hardware for mixed reality activities. (Update software, download course content, train staff and participants, and track usage and errors.)
- For assigned projects, attend internal meetings with staff and faculty and track meeting notes and action items in Wrike.
- Submit content and package assets through the LMS work request process.
- Perform quality assurance reviews, testing and proofreading on assigned e-learning courses, print and digital medical education materials.
- Support the development of standardized post-learning evaluation and success metrics on assigned projects.
- Track all assigned projects within the team standup meetings using the SCRUM process within Wrike.
Project Support Services
- Provide administrative support and organization of online and physical materials.
- Utilize Microsoft Office and content and projects management platforms, including Box and Wrike.
Annual Meeting Support Services
- Travel to the annual meeting scheduled for Oct. 2024.
- Proofread digital learning content within the annual meeting app.
- Collect, package, and coordinate shipping of learning hardware, signage and props for digital learning group for the annual meeting.
- Onsite support with unpacking supplies, setting up game stations, and engaging with attendees during game play.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree minimum (advanced degree in a related field preferred) ideally in learning technologies, training and development, and/or instructional design. Equivalent work experience in educational or training environment.
- Exposure and/or willingness to support the design and creation of virtual reality applications, AR/VR development
- Experience and/or degree in providing education through e-learning platforms, learning management systems, alternative methods using technology-assisted learning software applications, online survey tools, simulation software, and authoring tools.
- Experience with authoring software and other e-learning technologies, such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and screen capture and editing software, such as Camtasia and Final Cut Pro.
- Experience in working with virtual events platforms (ie, Zoom, or Google Meets).
- Must have a strong visual design aesthetic.
- Well-developed computer skills, Mac or PC-based, with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and comparable software.
- Ability to travel to the 2024 CHEST Annual Meeting in October.
